It is of great sadness for us to announce that Gran Colombia Tours will cease its services due to COVID-19 from March 20th to May 31st. Our administrative staff will be available during this period for any assistance you might need.
We really hope to show again Colombia’s beauty and potential to the world as soon as we recover from this crisis.
For now, it is time to help #StayAtHome
Tour Guatavita Tour Zipaquirá City tour Bogotá Walking tour
The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá is one of the most visited locations in Colombia. It was even a candidate to be one of the Marvels of the World at one time!
We’ll meet travelers at the meeting point with the yellow umbrella. Then we will continue our way through the north of the city to admire the salt mine.
The Cathedral will be our gate into a world of history often forgotten. Did you know an old salt empire once stood in this very plateau? Let’s explore the cavernous halls and learn how this edifice was carved out of the mountains.
It is a place filled to the brim Catholic symbols in a unique ambiance. Out of the depths, visit the town of Zipaquirá, the key city in an old indigenous empire built on salt. Then, sit down for a local lunch of your choosing before taking the ride back to Bogotá.
What to expect
Travelers will convene in a meeting point with our guide, from which we will drive to the Salt Cathedral. Inside you will explore the halls of the church through the massive structure. Emerging afterward, we will ride to Zipaquirá. Here, we will walk around the colonial plaza before sitting down to share a local lunch in one of the nearby restaurants. After the meal, we will drive back to Bogotá.
