We will travel from Santa Marta to La Guajira, see the salt extraction process in Manaure, visit Taroa dunes, and stepping into Punta Gallinas, the northernmost point of South America. Come and live a unique experience in the breathtaking deserts.

In this 3-day journey, our guide and the driver will pick you up in your hotel in Santa Marta and drive you for less than 3 hours to the first destination: Riohacha, the capital of La Guajira. This place is home for indigenous communities of Santa Marta’s Sierra Nevada (this mountain range covers part of La Guajira department) as well as for Wayúu people, the largest indigenous population in the country. Actually, as soon as we get to La Guajira it will be common to find them, as they inhabit along the desert.

Besides going to Riohacha, we will visit Manaure, known for the artisanal sea salt extraction method. After touring around there, you will be headed to Uribia, the capital of the Wayúu. Discover why visit La Guajira.

On the second day, you will visit Honda and Hondita Bay (which means deep) and then you will be taken to Punta Gallinas, which is the northernmost point in Colombia and South America. Its landscapes and views of the Caribbean coast are exceptional and unique.

On the last day of this journey, you will have a beach time at the Taroa dunes, where you will be able to walk down the dune directly to the water and practice sandboarding if wanted. The Taroa Dunes are the only Caribbean dunes in Latin America.

Of course, along your tour to Punta Gallinas, you will have traditional and local food so you can taste La Guajira’s real flavors and you will also have the opportunity to share with some Wayúu people.
