We have designed this trip for avid hikers like you who want to see the natural side of Colombia. On this full-day hiking tour through the Andean páramo landscape of Sumapaz National Park, near Bogotá, you will hike along peaceful yet challenging trails to explore the park’s páramo ecosystem. Marvel at its watersheds, unusual plants, and hardy animals. Finish the day with a delicious lunch in Usme. We want to show you why Sumapaz is one of the must-see places to visit near Bogotá.
This full-day adventure will start when our guide and our driver pick you up at the hotel and take you to the Sumapaz region. It will be a ride up and heights will be between 3,500 and 4,000 MSLA (13.000 feet approximately).
Once in Sumapaz, adventure will begin. You will start walking up through the slopes of this 178 thousand hectares’ páramo. Learn the environmental importance of this rare ecosystem and its amazing flora. Sumapaz is the most important water source in the region and a biodiversity hotspot like no other.
Then, the guide will tell you about the indigenous traditions that were practiced before colonization. You will understand the need of preserving the moorlands for the stability of the region and the social and political challenges it has faced.
After walking for some hours and mesmerizing at the water wells and the misty landscape, you will be able to rest your weary feet before heading back to Bogotá. You will enjoy a delicious lunch in Usme and go back to your hotel.

The activity happens to be at a considerable height (between 3,500 and 4,000 MASL – over than 13.000 feet). Please mind telling the guide or noting on the booking if there is any health condition our team should know of. We suggest you bring comfortable clothes, waterproof hiking footwear, a jacket and a cane if you need it. Weather tends to be cold.
