Overview

In this two-day trip you will discover the authentic beauty of our small towns.

The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá is one of the most notable achievements of Colombian architecture. Visiting this historical heritage of Colombia will allow you to know its cultural and environmental importance for the locals. On the other hand, Villa de Leyva is one of the few that still preserves the colonial architecture of its houses, neighborhoods, streets and squares. Despite its age, it is one of the most beautiful towns in the country.

What can I expect on this Zipaquirá and Villa de Leyva 2 days tour?

On the first day you will visit Colombia’s number one marvel: a cathedral carved out of an enormous salt mine, and the Sisga Dam, with stunning views of the surrounding nature. Then you will be headed to Villa de Leyva, a beautiful cobblestoned heritage old town.

On the second day you will have time enough to discover its best places and you will end this trip by visiting Ráquira, the pottery capital of Colombia. After this trip, you can complement your visit to the beauty around Bogotá by taking our village and Lake Guatavita day tour; that is another marvel of nature.

Itinerary

Our driver will pick you up at your hotel and you will enjoy the view on the drive to Zipaquirá. Once there, you will visit the Salt Catedral of Zipaquirá, the Sisga Dam and Puente de Boyacá. After that, you will be headed to Villa de Leyva, one of the heritage small towns of Colombia. There you will be able to rest and prepare for day two.

On the second day you will explore Villa de Leyva, which has some of the most well-preserved colonial architecture in the country, making it rich in history, archeology, and surrounded by striking natural beauty. Along the day, you will be visiting the Fossil Museum, Pozos Azules (mineral-rich pools surrounded by semi-desert), and Ráquira. We’ll call it a day by taking you back to Bogotá.
