Cocora Valley, in Salento (one of the places that belong to the Coffee Triangle) is one of the few entrance areas to Los Nevados National Natural Park, an environmentally protected park of snowy peak mountains. Besides, the valley was considered as Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This tour will start after meeting your experienced guide who will give you all recommendations needed. Then you will be headed to the entrance of the valley. From the very beginning you will easily appreciate tall and stunning Wax Palm Trees: our national emblematic tree, that has environmental and popular importance to the region and the country. You will have the chance to take a ride in a traditional willys car, the old jeeps that were used by coffee growers to transport themselves across wild roads and from farm to farm.
As you keep hiking some sloppy hills you will get to one of the viewpoints of the valley with great panoramic views for amazing photos. And, if you suddenly get caught by the mists and winds, don’t worry about it, that’s how weather tends to be, and it will only make the landscapes look even more magical. Finish the tour by visiting a waterfall before going to a small farm where a local will be waiting for you to enjoy a handmade, delicious, and humble lunch.
Salento and the Cocora Valley will show you their best natural spots along with their traditional coffee farms and the warm people who take care of the territory. It is a great combination. So, believe us when we say it is one of those Colombian natural treasures you can’t miss.
