Description

If hiking, sights and natural life is what you are looking for, Chingaza Páramo is the right fit for you!

The hike to Chingaza is a good change of pace from the busy city and a marvelous example of the beauty the Andean ranges hide. In fact, one of these Andean hidden treasures are moorlands, which are a strange type of ecosystem usually found high and Chingaza Natural Park is 76,000 hectares of it.

This is a full-day adventure so sleep well because we start early. Our expert guide will pick you up and take you across the city heading north to Chingaza. You will have a traditional homemade breakfast near the park and with the spirits boosted you will start.

From the entrance you will start hiking deep in the woods. It will be a tough but rewarding trek among hills, slopes and enchanting views. You will learn some history as Chingaza used to be part of the sacred territories of the Muiscas, an indigenous community that lived there before Spaniards. No wonder they held these lands as sacred.

If you are quiet and patient enough during the hike, several animal species might jump to your sight. Remember it’s their home: deers, spectacled bears, tapirs, and bird species, including the Andean condor. Pumas also make their home here, but they are a rare sight. You will also see locally famous frailejones: a shrubby plant key for the environment.

After spending most of the day at the park, you will have lunch at a ghost town and you will finally head back to your hotel again.

This is a tour made for animals and nature lovers. It’s all about disconnecting to be in real touch with nature. So free your spirit and let us guide you.
