We get it. Sometimes you don’t want to do the same as everyone. That’s why we have created a non-touristic hiking tour for adventurers.

Let’s start by saying that not many people know of Matarredonda Park existence. The the first prove of the authenticity of this trip. That being said, this is what you’ll do:

Your day will start when our driver and our guide pick you up at your hotel. You will be headed south through the hills, right back at Monserrate and Guadalupe, to Matarredonda Natural Park.

The place gets its name from a singular bush – tuno esmeraldo – that years ago was the landmark of one of the old houses in the mountains. The plant does not remain, but the place kept its name when the land was turned from farmland to a natural reservoir. While hiking among nature, you will understand the environmental key importance of Paramós ecosystem for our country, its vegetation and its water wells, as they are world’s one of a kind.

Matarredonda encompasses part of the local páramo, a landscape of beautiful endemic Andean plants. Unfortunately, the altitude of the park is not conducive to animal life: we will eventually be 12,000 feet above sea level. At the highest point, you’ll have a view of Monserrate and Guadalupe mountains, with Bogotá in the background. Our hike will eventually lead us to Teusacá Lake, one of the sacred lakes of the Muisca people. Its emerald-green waters are a sight to see.

After spending the day discovering wildlife of the Paramos, you will have a traditional homemade lunch to finally head back to Bogotá and your hotel.

Give yourself the chance to take a break and reconnect with nature. We have the perfect place for you and we will help you doing it.
